What are continuing education credits for AIA?
AIA continuing education credits, measured in Learning Units (LUs), are required for AIA member renewal and license renewal in many states. AIA members must complete a specific number of LUs each year, a portion of which must be in Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) topics.
AIA Continuing Education Requirements:
- AIA Architect and International Associate members: Must complete 18 LUs each year, with 12 of those being HSW credits.
- Architect Emeritus members: Must complete 1 LU each year.
- Associate members: Are not required to meet a minimum number of hours, but encouraged to take continuing education courses, according to the AIA.
- Allied members: Do not have a continuing education requirement.
